Our clients were really trying to make the most out of a terrible original layout with this apartment. The original flat had a bath in the kitchen, with difficult layout details at every turn. With the help of our designers, they were able to get a design that really worked. It took this rather ugly one bedroom apartment to being a beautiful two bedroom, with a huge step up in value as well.
Moving a Kitchen
We moved the kitchen right across the flat into the biggest room. The distance to the nearest waste pipe was pretty far, so we used a pump system. It works perfectly and over a year on there have been no problems. Also, so not to bring hot water too far as well, we used a small water heater under the sink. It provides instant hot water and took up very little room.
Hours of Work
Some rooms in Czech buildings are really large – sometimes unnecessarily so. Here we had another example of maximising space through partitioning. The huge bedroom was turned into a full size bathroom and double bedroom, with separate entrances to the lounge. The look is seamless and not one visitor has realised it wasn’t original!
Our Swedish clients love their whites and greys – and we do to. The plain white walls and skirtings look fantastic against the resurfaced floors. Small amounts of colour from furniture and fittings give a clean and warm feel. In the bathrooms and hallways, it’s all about the plain tiles. Greys on the floors and whites on the bathroom walls, all offset by solid colourful towels, mats and rugs. This all makes for a great canvas to add colours to for a great homely feel.
